Worship Services

The Covenant Community gathers for worship during two services each Sunday morning. At 10:30 a.m., our liturgical service begins in the Sanctuary with scriptures, music and sermon thematically based on the Revised Common Lectionary. Seasonal services that follow the lectionary are offered at other times of the year – Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, for example. Additional services during Advent include the Hanging of the Greens and a Lessons and Carols service. Worship music is provided by the Covenant Choir, the Covenant Handbell Choir (second Sundays), and the Covenant Chamber Orchestra (first and third Sundays).

At 11:45 a.m., Higher Ground, a contemporary worship service, begins in the Youth Center. This service uses the lectionary as a basis of worship as well as thematic studies over several weeks. Multimedia is used at this service and guitar accompaniment supports the singing.

The Sacrament of Holy Communion is served seven times during the church year, and because Presbyterians have open communion, all who profess faith in Jesus Christ are welcome at the Lord’s Table regardless of church membership or denomination.

As we join our voices in praise and adoration of God, we welcome people of all ages to either of our weekly services. Upon arrival for the 10:30 a.m. service, visitors are greeted by our Outreach and Hospitality workers. Refreshments and coffee are available before and after worship in the parlor so that we may share fellowship time with our guests and friends. After Higher Ground we join together over lunch.
